Baby Georgie of Cleveland Makes it to Quarterfinals in Jessica Alba's Baby of the Year Competition

CLEVELAND, OH — Cleveland toddler Georgie Vaughn Wishnek has reached the quarterfinals in the Baby of the Year competition, a national charity contest that combines adorable faces with a good cause. Sponsored by Jessica Alba, the Baby of the Year contest benefits Baby2Baby, a nonprofit organization that provides essential items such as diapers and clothing to children living in poverty across the United States.

One-year-old Georgie, born at 9 lbs. 9.5 oz. and known for her curious nature and infectious laugh, is currently ranked 11th in the quarterfinal round. She has steadily progressed through six rounds of voting since the contest began on September 16. This quarterfinal phase, which runs through November 7, will narrow the field further, with only one winner from each group advancing to the semifinals.

Georgie’s mom, a single parent, expressed how impactful the $25,000 grand prize would be for their family. “As a single mom, $25,000 would be life-changing and provide peace of mind that comes with knowing I can give Georgie a brighter future,” she shared. Winning would allow her to build a foundation for Georgie’s education, covering tuition, special programs, and opportunities to support her growth and learning.

The contest prize also includes an exclusive ad campaign in Good Housekeeping magazine, which reaches more than 47 million readers. Supporters can vote for Georgie by casting one free vote daily through Facebook or by donating to Baby2Baby, with each dollar donated translating into one additional vote.

Jessica Alba, a Golden Globe-nominated actress and longtime Baby2Baby board member, has lent her name and support to the competition. Baby2Baby, now in its 13th year, has distributed over 450 million essential items to children across all 50 states, reaching more than a million children each year. Alba’s involvement underscores the organization’s mission to ensure that every child has access to basic necessities.

Alongside the competition, participants also gain access to exclusive parenting workshops, which cover essential topics like sleep, nutrition, and other helpful parenting tips. Georgie’s journey through this competition has inspired local supporters to rally around her, sharing her joyful personality and bright future on social media platforms.

The Baby of the Year competition’s schedule is as follows:

  • Quarterfinals: October 28 - November 7

  • Semifinals: November 8 - November 14

  • Finals: November 15 - November 21

  • Grand Prize Winner Announcement: on or before November 29
