The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is set to unveil its $150 million transformation with a grand-opening weekend from Dec. 13-15, promising an immersive journey through more than 375,000 square feet of reimagined spaces. The celebration marks the culmination of years of work to modernize and expand the museum’s offerings, creating a world-class destination for science and nature enthusiasts.

“Our mission has always been to inspire, engage, and educate,” the museum stated on its website. “This transformation allows us to bring the wonders of natural history to life like never before.”

Three-Day Grand Opening Schedule

The festivities kick off on Dec. 13 with Epoch, an exclusive, ticketed event for guests aged 21 and older. Featuring internationally renowned DJ Mick, known for performances for stars such as LeBron James, the party will include classic hip-hop beats, craft cocktails, late-night bites, and after-hours access to the museum. Tickets are priced at $35.

On Dec. 14, museum members will enjoy a Member-Exclusive Preview Day, sponsored by DLR Group. This event offers a full day of exploration, providing an early look at the newly transformed museum, including one-on-one interactions with museum staff to enhance the experience.

The celebration concludes with the Public Grand Opening on Dec. 15, when the museum officially opens its doors to the community. Guests will have the chance to explore newly designed galleries, including the Evolving Life Wing, the Larry Sears and Sally Zlotnick Sears Dynamic Earth Wing, and the Ames Family Curiosity Center.

Transformative Features and Vision

The project, which represents one of the museum's most ambitious undertakings in its history, aims to bridge the past and present through interactive exhibits and innovative programs. New immersive experiences will guide visitors through natural history, from ancient Ohio to the Solar System, presenting life on Earth in engaging, educational formats.

Regular ticket pricing will resume on Dec. 15 and reflect the expanded offerings and enhanced access to the museum’s new features.

How to Attend

Tickets for Epoch and regular museum admission are available online at cmnh.org. The museum invites the Cleveland community and visitors from across the region to witness its transformation and celebrate a milestone in its nearly century-long legacy.
