Cleveland’s Beloved White Flower Cake Shoppe Turns 18 and Celebrates with Sweet Offers
CLEVELAND, OH — The White Flower Cake Shoppe is celebrating its 18th anniversary this Saturday, March 1, by offering 4-inch cakes for just $18, a significant discount from their usual price of $30. Available at their Eton Chagrin, Solon, and Strongsville locations, the cakes come in white or chocolate flavors and are topped with the shop's signature Swiss meringue buttercream.
“We are humbled and grateful each day that you continue to support our business and allow us to expand and grow,” the shop shared on its Facebook page. “We LOVE you Cleveland!”
A Sweet Journey from Apartment Kitchen to Cleveland Staple
The White Flower Cake Shoppe began with a KitchenAid mixer and a dream in 2007. Founders and lifelong friends Marianne Carroll and Lauren Bozich first discovered their love for cake decorating while working at Dairy Queen in high school. After pursuing art degrees, Marianne in oil painting and graphic design, and Lauren in special effects makeup, they combined their creative talents to launch the bakery.
Reflecting on their journey, Marianne wrote on Facebook, “Never could we have imagined it could turn into what we have today with four busy locations, an amazing staff, and flexibility to be with our families and a life outside of work. No risk, no reward, and I am so proud of what we have created over the years.”
Their first storefront opened at the Laplace Shopping Center in Beachwood, quickly becoming Northeast Ohio’s premier custom cake bakery. Today, White Flower Cake Shoppe operates four bustling locations, including their newest flagship store at Eton Chagrin Boulevard, offering a variety of desserts such as French macarons, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and gluten-free and vegan options.
Sweet Moments on ‘Cleve-It To Us’
White Flower Cake Shoppe has been a cherished part of the Cleveland community, notably featured on Cleveland 13’s “Cleve-It To Us” segment. During an exclusive behind-the-scenes look, co-owner Lauren Bozich welcomed Cleveland 13’s Gremi into their kitchen, giving viewers an intimate glimpse into the cake-making process. Gremi even had the chance to try her hand at decorating, experiencing firsthand the artistry and passion that goes into every White Flower creation.
Reflecting on her time with Lauren and Marianne, earlier today Gremi shared, “When I met these ladies, I knew I was in the presence of truly passionate artists. They love what they do and you can tell with every smile they give, every video they share, every bite you take of one of their cakes. I love them so much!”
The “Cleve-It To Us” segment not only showcased the bakery’s exquisite craftsmanship but also highlighted their vibrant personalities and dedication to their craft. This passion is echoed in their active participation in Cleveland 13’s “13 Days of Giveaways,” spreading joy throughout the community one sweet treat at a time.
A Legacy of Buttercream Mastery and National Recognition
White Flower Cake Shoppe’s reputation for excellence has attracted a star-studded clientele, including LeBron James, Pink, Jay Z, and the Cleveland Art Museum. The bakery’s distinctive style, particularly its mastery of buttercream, has been featured on Food Network competitions like “Ridiculous Cakes” and “Food Network Cake Challenge,” as well as a full season of WE TV’s “Amazing Wedding Cakes.”
Their artistic journey has also led to international success through The White Flower Cake Shoppe Online School of Decorating. The online platform offers buttercream cake decorating tutorials, inspiring students worldwide to explore the art of buttercream piping, flower crafting, and intricate cake design.
Community Love and Customer Loyalty
Over 18 years, the bakery’s commitment to quality and community has earned them a loyal following. One longtime customer shared, “They are not only absolutely beautiful cakes, but they taste even better than they look.” Another dedicated fan wrote on Facebook, “I travel the seven-hour round trip just to fill my freezer! Congrats on your continued success!”
Marianne and Lauren credit their success to hard work, a talented production team, supportive families, and an unwavering passion for cake decorating. “We are truly honored and humbled each day for the love and support of our customers and fans all over the world,” they said. “From two ladies that started out of a tiny apartment kitchen with a small 5-quart KitchenAid mixer, we are so grateful to be able to grow our business and love what we do every day.”
Celebrating 18 Years with Sweet Deals
To commemorate their 18th anniversary, White Flower Cake Shoppe is inviting customers to celebrate by enjoying their special $18 cakes this Saturday. Marianne shared on social media, “Stop in and snag a cake tomorrow, we'll be ready for you!”
This milestone celebration is a testament to White Flower Cake Shoppe’s dedication to their craft and community. As they continue to grow and inspire, their story remains one of passion, perseverance, and buttercream dreams.
