Cleveland Welcomes Whimsical British Comedy ‘O Christmas Tea’ for the Holidays

CLEVELAND, OHIO – Fans of British humor are in for a treat this holiday season as O Christmas Tea: A British Comedy graces the Agora Cleveland stage on Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. The show, crafted by the acclaimed Canadian comedy duo James & Jamesy, promises an imaginative and laughter-filled adventure that has captivated audiences across North America for over a decade.

Blending the absurdity of Monty Python, the charm of Mr. Bean, and the whimsy of Dr. Seuss, the performance takes audiences on a surreal journey where a Christmas tea party hilariously spirals out of control, flooding the world with tea. Known for their impeccable comedic timing and interactive stage presence, Aaron Malkin and Alastair Knowles, performing as James and Jamesy, offer a uniquely engaging experience that encourages the audience to suspend disbelief and become part of the show’s magical world.

“Theater is in its essence an exercise in imagination, a suspension of disbelief,” said Knowles, who plays the eccentric Jamesy. “O Christmas Tea focuses on, and plays with, this distinction.”

The duo’s dynamic chemistry and the production’s whimsical approach have made the show a cherished holiday tradition for families across North America. The 2024 tour includes 60 performances across 37 cities, including other Ohio stops in Lorain on Dec. 6 and Akron on Dec. 14.

“We want adults to leave feeling lighter, more playful, and with a deeper connection not only with their immediate companions but also with the entire audience who shared in the magical experience,” added Knowles.

Malkin, who portrays the more grounded James, noted that the production evolves yearly to keep it fresh and captivating. “Every year the tour gets bigger, and the show develops, which keeps the whole experience thrilling for audiences and ourselves,” he said.
