Cuyahoga County Urges Voter Participation Ahead of November Election
CLEVELAND, OH — As the November 5 Presidential General Election approaches, the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is working to ensure voters are informed and prepared. Residents should check their mailboxes this week for the Voter Information Guide, which includes key details such as precinct and polling locations. Additionally, the Ohio Secretary of State is mailing Vote-by-Mail applications to all registered voters starting this month, providing another convenient option for casting ballots.
Early in-person voting begins on Tuesday, October 8, at 2925 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland. Voters who wish to avoid potential Election Day crowds are encouraged to take advantage of this option. Voting hours are extensive, with weekday and weekend options available, including extended hours leading up to Election Day.
For those voting by mail, the Board has outlined a simple process. Voters must submit a ballot application online at 443vote.us or by calling 216-443-VOTE (8683) no later than Tuesday, October 29. Once the application is processed, the Board will mail ballots and return envelopes. Signed ballots must be returned by Monday, November 4, or earlier to meet the postmark deadline. A helpful tool on the BOE website allows voters to track the status of their Vote-by-Mail ballots.
To mark National Voter Registration Day, celebrated today, September 17, 2024, the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, along with Cleveland VOTES and other community partners, is hosting over 40 voter registration events. These events aim to help residents register or update their information ahead of the October 7 registration deadline for the general election. Locations include the Tri-C Metro Campus, Esperanza, Inc., and several schools, with additional events happening throughout the week.

Voters planning to cast their ballots on Election Day, November 5, should note that polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Acceptable forms of identification include an unexpired Ohio driver’s license or state ID, a U.S. passport, or military ID. For full details on voter ID requirements and accessible voting options, voters can visit the Board of Elections website.
In addition to the presidential and congressional races, the ballot will feature candidates for several state and local offices, including Ohio Supreme Court justices, Cuyahoga County Council members, and city council seats in Cleveland Heights and Highland Hills. Voters will also decide on state, county, municipal, and school issues.
The Board of Elections urges all eligible residents to ensure their voter registrations are up-to-date and to take advantage of early voting, Vote-by-Mail, or Election Day options to participate in this pivotal election.
