Jameis Leads Browns to Victory with Strong Defense and Revamped Offense

CLEVELAND, OH — Sitting at 1-6 going into Sunday’s game, all of Browns Nation was finally going to get what many of us had been clamoring for: a new play-caller and someone new under center. What was to come, however, none of us could have ever imagined.

Jameis was, once again, the biggest cheerleader out there for the whole team. This is something I personally love. I believe the biggest cheerleader on the team should be the leader. This isn't something new for Jameis, either. He has always been vocal throughout his entire football career. (I may personally give him a hard time and call him “Crablegs” for what he did after college, but I do love his energy.) He gave the pre-game speech of his life, then came time to back it up—and boy, did he! Jameis may be known for throwing interceptions, and he had us on the edge of our seats every single drive, but luckily, the Ravens could never hold onto it. At one point, the announcer even stated that it looked like Jameis was throwing it to the defender.

Now let’s talk about Teller coming back and how our offensive line actually looked and played like an offensive line! Bitonio was out, but with Teller back and Dewand Jones being added to the starting lineup, this was the first time in a long time that our guys looked and played great. Teller blocked a few times for Chubb, and you could tell Chubb was glad to have his lead blocker back, too.

Defense was on their A-game, and it seemed like Schwartz definitely had the guys watching tape. Not letting Lamar use his legs as much as he usually does also helped solidify this win. Ward had some great blocks, and so did JOK, but unfortunately, both left the game early—Ward with a head injury and JOK carted off the field with a neck injury.

Yes, this game essentially came down to a failed Hail Mary pass by Lamar, but looking at this game from prior to last week, prior to Watson getting hurt, and prior to Dorsey taking over play-calling, we didn’t think we had a shot at containing the Ravens, let alone beating them. We looked and played like a complete team, and I’m sure all of Browns Nation hopes we can keep this momentum up.

That being said, Go Browns, and rest in peace, Jim Donovan.
