Kanye West Selling Controversial Swastika T-Shirts After Spending $7 Million on Bizarre Ad
WCTU CLEVELAND 13 — Kanye West is facing intense backlash after launching a $20 T-shirt featuring a swastika on his Yeezy website, a move that comes shortly after he spent $7 million on a one-minute ad promoting the site. The ad, filmed on his iPhone, showcased him getting new teeth while subtly directing viewers to his online store. The only item available for purchase was the controversial white T-shirt, further escalating public outrage.
West’s website includes a terms and services agreement that attempts to shield Yeezy and its affiliates from any liability related to the sale or use of its products. The policy states that users agree to indemnify Yeezy from claims and prohibits any harassment using its products. Critics argue that this disclaimer is an attempt to avoid accountability for the offensive nature of the merchandise.
Piers Morgan weighed in on the controversy, condemning West’s recent actions as part of a larger pattern of hate speech. “Rapper Yay! Hereafter I’m gonna call him Kanye West. I’m done with calling him Yay!” Morgan said. He highlighted West’s recent tirades on social media, which included violent and anti-Semitic statements. “He talked about violence against women. He talked about violence against Jewish people and enslaving them. Talked about loving Hitler.”
Morgan questioned whether West’s rhetoric amounts to incitement of violence, noting that his statements go beyond free speech protections. “I would argue that identifying as a Nazi alone implies that. Yeah, maybe he shares a mindset of people who literally exterminated millions of Jews.” He also referenced West’s previous suspension from X, formerly Twitter, for posting a swastika interlaced with the Star of David.
Despite the platform’s previous enforcement actions against him, Morgan pointed out that West was allowed to post for an entire weekend before voluntarily leaving the platform. “What seems crystal clear is that Kanye West was in clear violation of X's own rules on hateful conduct,” Morgan said.
West’s decision to price the shirt at $20 (far lower than his typical merchandise) suggests he is intentionally making it widely accessible. Critics say this is part of a calculated effort to spread hate symbols while attempting to insulate himself from consequences through legal disclaimers on his website.
