New Café Unites Community and Revives Small Business Spirit in Cincinnati

Updated: Sep 17

WEST CHESTER, OH—Coterie Lounge & Café opened in late May 2024, and despite being new to the West Chester community, it’s quickly becoming the blueprint for what every small business should be. Owner Ghiovanna Dennis has created more than just a coffee shop—she’s crafted a place that feels like home, where her approachable and passionate leadership shines through. In just a few short months, Coterie has become a go-to gathering spot, hosting events that bring people together while offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s the epitome of how small businesses should be run, with a focus on connection, community, and heart.

Ghiovanna is a woman on a mission, determined to make Coterie Lounge & Café more than a place to grab coffee. Tucked away off Cincinnati-Dayton Road, the café buzzes with the kind of energy only a passionate small business owner like Ghiovanna can bring. Her vision wasn’t just to own a café but to create a space where her community could truly connect; and she’s doing just that.

Partnering with Seven Hills Coffee Roasters (a Cincinnati-based brand, not connected to the Cleveland-area city), she ensures her coffee is top-tier and ethically sourced. But Ghiovanna's mission goes beyond coffee. She’s deeply committed to supporting other small businesses, actively inviting local entrepreneurs to send her their event flyers, which she proudly displays in the café’s community room. "Businesses grow stronger together," she says, and this philosophy is visible in everything she does at Coterie.

No matter where you are in Ohio, Ghiovanna’s story resonates with anyone who’s hustled to make a dream a reality. "Butler County is my community," she proudly declares. It’s clear that Coterie isn’t just a business to her—it’s a space where people can come together over coffee, connection, and collaboration.

If you haven’t seen her space yet, you’re missing out. In a recent TikTok video, Ghiovanna gives a heartfelt tour of Coterie, showcasing the community room that’s always evolving. One day it’s set up for Bible studies, the next it’s filled with book clubs or moms catching up over coffee. "This space is designed for people to just chill out," she explains, pointing out her rotating furniture and the shelves filled with donated books.

Her social media game is just as strong as her in-person presence. Ghiovanna actively shares updates, event announcements, and shop tours on Instagram and TikTok (@coterieloungecafe), where she’s growing a loyal following. And it’s not just about promoting her café; she’s lifting up others, too. Her recent “Ladies Night” brought in local vendors offering everything from permanent jewelry to Botox, blending coffee, wine, and karaoke for a night of fun and connection.

While Coterie Lounge & Café might be a bit of a drive from Cleveland, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to hit the road and support something truly special. Especially with National Coffee Day approaching (September 29th), what better reason to take a little road trip to experience this place for yourself.

Ghiovanna’s passion for not just her own business, but for the entire small business community, is infectious. If you're passing through Cincinnati, stop in West Chester and experience what she’s built. You’ll leave with more than just a great cup of coffee. You’ll feel inspired by what’s possible when someone pours their heart into their dream.

If you’re not headed south anytime soon, show her some love on social media. Ghiovanna's energy and vision are too good not to share.
