Updated: Jan 13
CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS, OH — Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School is brimming with holiday cheer, thanks to the appearance of a life-sized elf on the shelf known as “Scottie.” The festive figure, portrayed by Dean of Students Elena Scotton, has delighted students and staff alike with her creative antics and playful spirit.
Each day, Scottie surprises the school community by appearing in unexpected places, from balancing precariously on library bookshelves to overseeing good behavior in the cafeteria. “It’s all about creating a magical, joyful environment for the kids,” said Scotton, whose transformation into Scottie has added a dose of whimsy to the holiday season.
Students eagerly anticipate spotting Scottie in new locations as they navigate their school day. This week, Scottie even teamed up with Superintendent Matt Young, who joined the fun as a fellow elf on the school balcony. Together, the duo waved to students heading home, spreading smiles and holiday cheer.
The tradition has not only brought excitement to the students but also strengthened the sense of community within the school. Photos and videos of Scottie’s escapades, from keeping watch in classroom windows to reminding students to stay on the “nice” list, capture the joy and magic of the season.
For Cuyahoga Heights Elementary, Scottie’s elf-sized adventures have become a cherished part of the holiday celebration, leaving students and staff with memories of laughter and delight.
